Whenever I see ‘Super-man’, ‘Spider-man’ or ‘James Bond’ movies, I get goose-bumps. How thrilling it is to jump around buildings and save the people? How amazing it is to protect the needy? How much joy it gives to stand for a cause and go for it no matter what? This is what I think life is meant to be. To exercise our spiritual gifts and powers for the welfare of our family, close friends and society.

I remember a quote from the movie, ‘Spider-Man 1’: Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility." This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-man.

As evident from history, in order to do any great thing, it requires sacrifice. Sometimes it is only time, sometimes it is energy, sometimes it is money, sometimes it is life or even everything! There are two ways of doing great things.

By taking the leading role yourself. That is - You decide what to be done, you do it and you guide others to do it. You assume the full responsibility of the consequences.
By inspiring others in little ways around us. For example, giving shelter to a poor person who is suffering in hot summer. (Especially the summer in India is intense these days). Or being happy in the things we do and creating a lively environment for the people around us.

Of the above ones, point 2 seems more convenient to many people. And it is also so easy! Just take care of yourself properly and be the kind of person that you can be counted upon by others.

Let us think about the non-violence fight for independence by Gandhi. There could be a middle class widow woman in his team, who had to take care of her 3 kids, then there could be a 50 yr old man who had suffered from a bad health, then there could be a small business owner who had to take care of his business. Irrespective of what they were in their life, their goal was common and got the things done!

I think that’s what ‘Teamwork’ is all about. Something common from a couple of common people around us helps in achieving these extra-ordinary results. I would like to compare it to a great man’s teaching about love: It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amountof flour until it worked all through the dough.

Surely it gives pleasure to have an individual achievement. But it gives more happiness when the victory is achieved as a team because relationships are the most important things in life. So, next time when someone is offering you a help with good spirit, don’t hesitate to beg for more! Just get the things done and make it happen!!
