Do Not Worry

Many people worry a lot. They worry about everything. They worry about food. They worry about job. They worry about clothes. They worry about themselves. They worry about what others think of themselves.

I observed that one of the reasons that most people worry in their lives is because of what others might think of them. It is the general tendency of humans, that they want to prove themselves superior to others. They chase behind something materialistic thinking if they achieve it, they become popular and happier. Their happiness is conditional based on how others might react to them. Besides, media play a big role these days. Many times media projects that someone who is popular, successful or wealthy is happy. Is that true?

When many people follow a certain pattern, it is considered as a standard. Then anything that is away from this pattern is considered abnormal. For example, let us think of a teenager who wants to become a great musician. Music is his passion and is his gifted talent. But, his parents have different expectations. Just because their neighbor's son scored well in IIT, they put a lot of pressure on their teenager also. They expect him to score well in his studies. If they are concerned because they care for their son, it is understandable. But if they just want to prove that their family is better than others, is it right?

They become stumbling blocks to the joy of their son. Their main concern is not whether their son is enjoying life to the fullest, but what others might think of them and their "success" as parents. They actually seem to worry more about themselves and not necessarily caring about their son.

So, do not be conformed to the patterns of this world, that are created by humans out of their pride and boastfulness. As the Bible says, "Be in the world, but not of the world". Let us see what Jesus said about worrying:

Do Not Worry (Source: www.Biblegateway.com, Version: NIV  Verses: Matthew 6:25-34)
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jesus is telling us to seek God first and the other things will be taken care of. So, stop worrying.

Hello Vamsee:
For short-term(quick fix):
Jesus has something good for everybody. He has some good points that can help one live a much better life. Just consider him as a rebel and enjoy his teachings. Customize him in whatever way you want and enjoy your life.

For long-term:
See beyond what you can see. Coming from a Hindu background, I have studied more on Jesus than on any subject that I studied in my formal education. So, do a dedicated research on him. Jesus said he came as a savior of this world and as a sacrifice for one's sins. It is worth the time to try to know more about him. Once we know him correctly, our lives will not be the same. And do not depend solely on any pastors, preachers, sermons because if they are not teaching good or turn out to be hypocrites, you will lose interest.

I know you like Jesus but you consider your intelligence is coming in between. I don't think so. Your laziness is coming in between. Anyone if they really do research with impartial mind, they will surely find that Jesus is the answer to the world's problems and he is in fact the Savior and the Son of God as he claimed to be.

We must be bold enough to carry his unpopularity upon us, and not be cowards. Just because some Christians are bad/senseless, we cannot go on making fun of those Christians and making ourselves feel better.

Suggested books if you are interested: Dethroning Jesus.
Good luck, my friend. More joy is awaiting you.

Yes, you can use the short fix as long term permanent fix...
But I guess that long term permanent fix will be short smilies/smiley.gif
Remember, Jesus wants to save us and not to burden us...He does n't want 10% or 25% or 75% of us but 100% of us...because he wants to fill our hearts with 100% love....That is possible only if we accept him as our Lord and Savior, and not just as a revolutionary teacher..

Jesus said 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Thoughts on Atheism, part 1
written by a guest , September 25, 2009
I have never been an atheist, and I don't know what it feels like to be an atheist. However, I can make some guesses. Correct me if I am wrong. Firstly, I guess that one might feel disconnected from life. (My belief in God grounds me.) Secondly, I guess that one might feel alienated from many people in society who do believe in God. Thirdly, I guess that one might feel proud for not believing in supposed fairy tales that others believe in. Fourthly, I guess that one might feel more rational for not believing in things that one cannot see and that might just exist in the imagination.

Thoughts on Atheism, part 2
written by a guest , September 25, 2009
Who is God? In my mind, God is the Source of Life, the Creator and Sustainer of all that is. God is conscious at all times of everything that he has created. God gives unity and harmony to the universe by simply being. God is love. This is my idea of God. I may not be able to see, hear, touch, taste, or smell God, but I can still feel God within my body and soul. God is the one who gives me life and consciousness. To me, the rejection of God is the rejection of every good thing. To someone else, the rejection of God might be the rejection of someone else's idea of God, and not of God himself. Others might reject God because God is seen as a nuisance or an inconvenient idea.

Thoughts on Atheism, part 3
written by a guest , September 25, 2009
I believe that God lives throughout the universe and in every human. God can become more alive and productive in us if we take him as a partner and friend. If we surrender our will to God's will, we can help make the world a better place, since God wants what is best for the world.

Thoughts on Atheism, part 4
written by a guest , September 25, 2009
Some people will not surrender to God until they are in a desperate situation. Maybe their life is in extreme danger, or maybe they are at the end of their rope, emotionally. The Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. This means that we can be saved from spiritual confusion and loss. We can call on God each and every moment of our lives. We don't ever need to be alone. We don't need to live without God, but some people seem to need to see how much they can do on their own before they return to God.

Thanks Alan for sharing your points. I agree 100% with all of your comments (except your first comment because I had never been an atheist in my life and I really don't know what it seems like in the shoes of an atheist..I had only been skeptical about God sometimes though)
